The well-known cultural phenomenon – a must for film and media enthusiasts
SIMFEST- The International Television and Independent Producers Festival is the only festival of this type in Romania.
Tirgu Mures, Romania, 27th of August- 2nd of September 2018
Like every year, at the end of August, Tirgu Mures becomes the meeting place for film and television professionals, independent producers and media enthusiasts. The SIMFEST Festival, at its 15th edition, suggests this summer a cultural complex that includes beside competition special events and programs such as: Media creation camp (Summer school), Book and Music’s days, shows, recitals, public artistic and documentary film projections and debates.
The 15th anniversary edition takes place in several places. The festival returns, after many years, to the beautiful Medieval Fortress of Tirgu Mures, the place where the Summer School’s workshops and master classes will be presented. Among those who have announced their presence are, the writer and screenwriter Bogdan Hrib, Associate professor phD. Ion Stavre, Charles Fletcher, MBE from Edinburgh, the British film director Steve Teers but also the make-up artist Georgiana Teers, who comes to Tirgu Mures to share her experience in the world of movies.
The “Arta” cinema will be the spotlight of the festival, the venue for the public projections of documentary films dedicated to the Centenary of the Union, artistic films from the portfolio of other big festivals as well as the premier films waiting to be discovered by the film addicts.
Never-failing from the SIMFEST program, the book and the music market will be this summer as well, a point of attraction in the downtown of the city. It will be marked through book launches, CD’s as well as: The Romanian language day on the 31st of August through the launches of some volumes written by Romanians from other countries (USA, UK etc.) and the Centenary of the Union, by presenting, among others a volume published for the first time in Romania after it was launched in the Republic of Moldova entitled: “Sfatul Țării. Unirea Basarabiei cu România” (“The Council of the Country. The Union of Bessarabia with Romania”) by Alexandru Bobeică, a journalist from Soroca.
All these but many other events as flash-mobs, exhibitions and documentary trips in Mureș county, make the SIMFEST festival not only a mere TV and film competition, but a real cultural complex.
SIMFEST- the festival you don’t have to miss this summer. See you in August in Tirgu Mures !
